Join us for an evening of poetry on Friday October11th! Listen to readings from local poets Ceremonial Abyss, Yves B Golden, Will Alexander, and Losarc Raal.

Ceremonial Abyss (1987–) is an aleatoric tape artist, curator and writer based in the Pacific Northwest. He has toured the U.S. extensively in support of his releases 23, Betrayal, and Tape Study for Four Variants. Along the way, he has performed with musicians and authors such as Pete Swanson (Yellow Swans), Jennifer Soong, Zan da Perry, Vi Khi Nao, DIIV and Will Alexander.

Yves B Golden (1993) is an artist whose work gleams at multiple intersections of media, including sculpture and embodiment, activism and curation, written word and sound, installation and performance. She is working with many others towards a world free from settler colonialism, a free Palestine, a free Sudan, a Free Haiti in her lifetime.

Losarc Raal (b. 1983) is a writer and publisher. He was tyrant over the controversial poetry and arts journal NOMATERIALISM (2020–2022), and he currently oversees the Creative Writing Department. He is the author of several chapbooks, and his first full-length book, No Material, was published by Black Sun Lit in 2023. His second book, a collection of poems called The Pact of Non-Self, is out now with NEW Books. He has lived in Brooklyn, Greece, Argentina, and Saudi Arabia, and he currently resides with his wife and sons in San Diego, CA. Instagram @creativewritingdepartment

Born in 1948 in Los Angeles, WillAlexander is a poet, novelist, playwright, philosopher, visual artist, and musician. He has published over two dozen books in a variety of genres and has earned many honors and awards including a Whiting Fellowship for Poetry, a California Arts Council Fellowship, the PEN/Oakland Josephine Miles Award, a Before Columbus Foundation American Book Award, and the 2016 Jackson Poetry Prize. He has also exhibited his artwork in group and solo shows. His work is known for its visionary, oracular surrealism and the influence of Negritude. Among his publications are Refractive Africa (New Directions, 2021/Granta, 2022), which was named a finalist for the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry and won the California Book Award for Poetry, The Combustion Cycle (Roof, 2021), Across the Vapor Gulf (New Directions, 2017), and The Sri Lankan Loxodrome (New Directions, 2009). His book Compression & Purity (2011) was volume five in the City Lights Spotlight Poetry Series. He is currently the poet-in-residence at Beyond Baroque in Venice, California. He has lived his entire life in Los Angeles.
