Join us for an evening of poetry and music on Satuday November 11th! Listen to readings from local poets Halleta Alemu, Meg Shevenock, Elizabeth Burch-Hudson, Karla Lamb, and Andra Knox, as well as an acoustic set by Calvin Lee Reeder.

Karla Lamb (she/ella) is a queer Chicana poet born in Mexico City, with work in Tilted House, Cobra Milk, Rejected Lit, A Women’s Thing Magazine, Yes Poetry, Coal Hill Review, Fine Print Press, Dream Boy Book Club, & elsewhere. Her work has been twice nominated for the Best of the Net Anthology, & translated in Revista La Peste. Lamb curates various literary events in Los Angeles. More at karlalamb.com & @vinylowl

Halleta Alemu never planned to be a writer -- it was a happening that took place during her years as a struggling actress in Los Angeles. Shuffling from a rotation of part time jobs and auditions, exhausted and depressed, she began to notice the beauty of the world around her and how she had to write about it just to cope with it. Now, Halleta is a writer and multimedia performance artist. She seeks to create immersive experiences through her writing. Currently she's working on her first novel, Virtual Mercury, a work of auto-fiction about a girl in her late twenties who is unable to have penetrative sex.

Andra Knox is a writer, actor & creative mind hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota based in LA. He is self-published in poetry, a spoken word artist and host of the 'Goodness' Podcast.

Meg Shevenock is a poet and artist whose poetry collection, The Miraculous, Sometimes, was selected by Bob Hicok as winner of the 2019 Marystina Santiestevan first book prize for Conduit Books & Ephemera. Meg's poems and essays have appeared or are forthcoming in theTimes Literary Supplement, Lana Turner, Denver Quarterly, Fence, Best New Poets, Kenyon Review blog, and elsewhere. She received a writing grant from The American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2021 and an Individual Excellence Award in poetry from the Ohio Arts Council in 2020. Meg teaches writing to gifted youth and has been a researcher and the “reader” for visual artist Ann Hamilton. She is a poetry instructor at California State Summer School for the Arts and currently works at Gemini, G.E.L., an artist workshop and print-based publisher in West Hollywood.

Elizabeth Burch-Hudson is literally insane. They're published with HAD, Forever Mag, Hobart Pulp, Vlad Mag, and Rejection Lit. They Second Rounded the Austin Film Festival in 2022 and 2023, the Sundance Development Lab in 2023, and hope to have the world's first Wellbutrin sponsorship.
