Song A Day Showcase

Saturday, February 10th, 2024 at 7pm PST

Song a Day for a Month is an online, open community of musicians who gather every January and July to write songs and support each other’s practice. January 2024 marks the ten year anniversary of the project and we are celebrating with a series of concerts in Los Angeles featuring long-time Song a Day contributors. This celebratory show features:

Katy the Kyng

Katy the Kyng is a guitarist, poet, and composer focusing on themes of love, identity, and desire in modern times. She performs and records as a solo artist and as the lead guitarist in Irrevery, Weasel Walter’s The Flying Luttenbachers, and other projects. Her debut album, Selfies Of You, feat. Marc Ribot and Ches Smith, will be released any day now. She lives in Brooklyn with her unusually pretty cat, Timothée.

Alex Wand and the Santa Cruz Mountain Band (Brock Stuessi and Stuart Wheeler)

Alex Wand is a Grammy Award-winning musician and composer who performs as a solo artist and in bands Desert Magic and the Partch Ensemble, performing at venues and festivals from California to Tibet such as REDCAT, the Bootleg Theater, and the Xinghai International Poetry Festival. His music has been described as having “melody lines that can circle through one’s head for days after listening, begging to be rewound and re-listened and timbres and layers that are supremely joyful and poignant and at times absolutely laid bare in their sincerity” (New Classic LA).
